Salzburger Stierwascher

I chose the bull as a symbol for Salzburg because of the Salzburger Stierwascher tradition, which represents the city's strength, cleverness, and pride. The legend tells of locals who tricked their enemies during a siege by parading the same bull, painted differently each day, to make it look like they had plenty of food. The clever plan worked, and the bull became a lasting symbol of the city's resilience.

To connect the logo even more to Salzburg, I included the shape of the city's mountains within the body of the bull. This adds a sense of place and highlights the natural beauty that surrounds the city, tying together its history and landscape in one simple, meaningful image.

Edelwiss

The edelweiss represents rarity, resilience, and a quiet kind of elegance. In the 19th century, the flower came to symbolize an alpine paradise—an escape from the skepticism and rapid urbanization of Europe's growing cities.

The edelweiss also pays tribute to Salzburg, a city close to my heart. Known for its breathtaking landscapes and deep musical roots, it's the birthplace of Mozart, home to world-renowned music festivals, and the backdrop of The Sound of Music. Music notes are subtley integrated into the design of the flower—blending nature and creativity, tradition and expression.
