Motion Graphic
The Scope
Client: College
Project Type: Motion Graphics
Software: After Effects, Illustrator
Compentencies: Animation, Visual Style
The Challenge
To grasp the concept of motion graphics, it's helpful to understand how animating a bouncing ball incorporates fundamental animation principles. This task involved creating a "story" using a bouncing ball, ensuring the inclusion of at least five of the twelve principles of animation. The ball must exhibit realistic bouncing behavior, adhering to the rules of physics. We have the option to depict the motion within a single still frame or across multiple frames, be as simple or complex as we please. Bonus points were awarded if the ball returns to its original starting point, demonstrating a complete and cohesive animation loop.
The Solution
While drawing isn't my strongest skill and I tend to avoid it, I embrace challenges and strive to push my limits when appropriate. In my recent project, I incorporated 9 out of the 12 principles of animation. Notably, I tackled water splash animation—a concept our instructor had to demonstrate separately, as we hadn't covered it in After Effects. Additionally, I implemented 3D parallax effects, illustrating Pluto's movement among the other planets, ensuring it returned to its original orbital position.
